Can I view my reports from a remote location?

The answer is yes, but it is a little more complicated than that.

There are programs available from almost any computer software store that will allow you to remote access your system.  About all you will need is an Internet connection at the store, an Internet connection where you are and the software loaded at both locations.

There are 2 brand names that come to mind and they are:

• PC Anywhere
• Go to my PC

Both of these can be found on the Internet and work well.  We use PC Anywhere to support our customers.

There are a few things to understand before connecting to your site remotely.

1. When you dial in with any remote software you are taking over control of the terminal.  If you do not have a back of house PC to dial into then you are taking control of one of the point of sale terminals.  Anyone standing in front of the terminal will not be able to use the terminal and they will see all the same movements of the mouse and screen displays that you see.
2. You are going to want a broadband or high speed connection on both ends of the connection.  Since you are taking control of the PC at your restaurant you will want the connection to allow for the fastest possible movement and video refresh.  Otherwise, you will quickly become frustrated with the entire process.
3. Since you are taking control of the PC at your restaurant, no one will be able to use the unit while you are dialed in.
