Programming Menu Items Into DirecTouch DIY Restaurant Point of Sale

One of the true tests of the ease of use for a point of sale system is the programming of menu items.  More than any other area other than reports, management and owners will spend the most time programming menu items and changing prices.  It is imperative that your software be easy to maintain and program.  Take a minute to see how easy it is to add an item and maintain your database with DirecTouch Point of Sale.

  1. Begin with entering the "Managers Menu".  This area is password protected and access is restricted through security levels.

  2. Go to "Menu Maintenance".

  3. Then go to "Menu Items and Pricing".  Here you will be able to add new items, maintain existing items or simply change prices.

  4. This is the main item screen.  Use the drop down boxes to bring up existing items, make changes or simply enter new data into fields with no drop down box.

  5. Regular price is entered in this field.

  6. Take a look at the other fields for programming.  DirecTouch tries to put the most used fields on this single page.

  7. Check boxes are used for simply "Yes" or "No" type of features.

  8. For items with restricted sales such as tobacco and liquor you may turn on the age prompt.  You may also set the security level required in order to ring up this item.  If you have underage employees who cannot sell alcohol you should set this field to a higher security level so that they cannot ring drinks.

  9. Up to 5 modifier groups can be assigned to a single item.  Each item within that group can have up to 5 modifier groups assigned to it.  This cycle can continue and continue, allowing you ample ability to properly describe and modify an item.

  10. Up to 6 remote printers can be assigned to a single item.

  11. When you are done adding an item, making changes or changing the price "Save" and "Exit" will distribute the changes to every terminal in the system.
