How To Set Up a Remote Printer | Printer Setup

DirecTouch Point of Sale systems can have up to 6 remote printers.  These can be either thermal or dot matrix printers.  In some cases, we can even use the thermal receipt printer sitting next to a terminal for a remote printer, saving you the cost of an additional printer.  The following will give you an idea of how to set up these remote printers.

1. Start by entering the "Manager Menu".  Remember, this area is restricted by security access levels.
   
2. Go to "Register Setup".
   
3. Go to "Printer Setup".
   
4. This is where you will select the available printers.  Use the drop down boxes to help select them.
   
5. You can give the printer it's own name to help define it better.
   
6. You may select a backup printer for each printer in the system.  If the primary printer is down or has a problem, the system will automatically re-route the printed item and notify the operator that there is a problem with the main printer.
   
7. In this area you set up the remote printers.  Give the printer a name such as "Grill" to help define it's use and location.
   
8. Use the drop down box to select from the available printers.  Remember, you can use a receipt printer as a remote printer.  This works great in bar operations.
   
9. Be sure and set up a back up printer.  Remember, a receipt printer can be a back up printer.
   
10. "Save" and "Exit" when done.
