DirecTouch is a product from a company with a 31-year history of providing quality solutions and services to restaurant and retail operations across the country. Established in 1975, Business Machines, Inc. (BMI) began selling cash registers and computers to local businesses and has since evolved into a nationwide distributor of POS hardware, software and services. The company has placed more than 30,000 machines throughout the United States and the Caribbean. Today, the largest growth area in BMI's business is touch-screen technology.

As an industry leader, BMI is committed to providing the best possible products, service and support. For over 29 years we have sold, installed, trained and supported thousands of systems from the simplest electronic cash registers to the most sophisticated POS terminals, scanners, inter-communication equipment and software. Our technicians are highly trained and our sales people all have come from restaurant backgrounds.

History of BMI and DirecTouch DIY Restaurant Point of Sale

DirecTouch is a product long in development for an industry ready for a change in direction. For too many years, restaurateurs were at the mercy of Point of Sale (POS) companies who kept technology to themselves. Computers were a great mystery to the vast majority of people, especially business owners who did not have time to learn computers, let alone have time to implement an entire system.

As computer technology became more prevalent and understanding this technology more widespread, POS dealers began to lose their monopoly on the expertise of the systems they were overcharging for. Restaurateurs began to see that technology was a requirement to operate their business and they began to look for alternative sources for their needs. DirecTouch was created to be that source.

In our case, the owner has been in business 31 years and been providing solutions to restaurateurs for much longer than that. Bob Frazier began his career with NCR and then broke from them to begin Business Machines, Inc. in 1975. Since then, Bob has surrounded himself with quality and knowledgeable people who have helped him grow BMI to the national solutions provider that it is today.
